Old Town History

San Felipe de Neri Church

Standing as the heart of Old Town Albuquerque, San Felipe de Neri Church is one of the oldest surviving buildings in the city and a testament to over 300 years of history. Originally founded in 1706, the church was rebuilt in 1793 after the original structure collapsed due to heavy rains. With its thick adobe walls, elegant white towers, and traditional Spanish Colonial design, it remains a stunning example of historic Southwestern architecture.

Over the centuries, San Felipe de Neri has been a place of worship, a symbol of resilience, and a cornerstone of the Old Town community. Inside, visitors can admire beautiful religious artifacts, intricate woodwork, and a peaceful courtyard that offers a quiet escape from the bustling plaza. Whether you're drawn by faith, history, or the beauty of its craftsmanship, this landmark stands as a powerful reminder of Albuquerque’s deep-rooted past.
